Saxum II

The best stereo amplifier gets even better

Based on the experience in the development of our high-power flagship Saxum mono block amplifier, countless technological advances have been made. Now we are putting back these marvelous achievements back into the more compact stereo version, improving the already ultimate Saxum amplifier beyond every limit.

Second-generation dual mode compound amplifier

The heart of the Saxum is the revolutionary dual mode compound amplifier circuit, that makes it truly outstanding in accuracy. It comprises of two individual linear amplifiers tied in a single nested feedback loop. The front-end is an ultra-low noise trans-conductance mode amplifier, whereas the output stage is a wideband, high slew rate trans-impedance mode amplifier. Combining the advantage of these two circuits the result is an extraordinary amplifier having 1.2nV/rtHz input referred noise density and 2MHz bandwidth, a set of figures that is unobtainable with any other technologies.

The Saxum II utilizes the second-generation dual mode compound amplifier, which has a modified 4-stage trans-impedance output section. This profound 4-stage design enhanced the over-load margin and substantially improved the performance of the Saxum II against reactive load loudspeakers.

Features

Closed loop ultra-high current regulated power supply

There is major upgrade in the power supply of the Saxum II. The new power supply is equipped with closed loop error control, which is much more stable especially when outputting extreme high current. Also, the number of regulator transistors has been doubled and the size of the reservoir capacitors has been increased by 30%. This new power supply can power the Saxum II into full output under 2-ohm load not just momentarily, but continuously.

Heavy gauge solid copper bus bar

Internal power supply wires in the Saxum II are replaced by gold plated heavy gauge solid copper bus bars. Not only these pure copper bars provide zero resistance, but also minimize the path length in the supply rail. Shorter rail means less interference and less noise.

Zero delay thermal protection

The Saxum II is installed with thermal detectors not on the main heatsink, but directly on top of every output transistor. There are totally 44 of them inside the amplifier. These close proximity detectors will ensure zero latency and instant protection against any potential failure. The Saxum II is so well protected that it is simply indestructible.

Non-invasive current limit

Ballast resistors or any series current sensing element that would inevitably increase the output impedance of the Saxum II has been completely removed. Instead, the non-invasive current sensor is used. This advanced non-invasive protection circuit monitor the current flow remotely without infiltrating the audio circuit, realizing zero additional resistance or disturbance. The current limit action is very precise, highly reliable and without any side effect, even when the Saxum II is drawing tremendously high output current.

Resonance free low profile heat sink

Due to the generous amount of class-A bias current applied to the Saxum’s power output stage, its static power dissipation is as high as 150W for each channel. That means a big heat sink is required to dissipate this high idle power. Unlike traditional long fin heat sink, the Saxum’s heat sink is a low profile design that is immune to mechanical resonance. 5mm thick solid copper bars act as heat pipe that effectively distribute the heat evenly around all four side panels of the metal housing. No noisy ventilation fan or ringing metal fin is used.

Self-leveling Tri-axial mechanical suspension

Weighting more than 120Kgs, the Saxum requires dedicated mechanical supporting structure. Four gigantic suspension feet loaded with special damping spring system which provides balanced compliance in both horizontal and vertical directions. The Saxum is mechanically isolated from vibration coming from 360 degrees, keeping a stable platform for the sensitive electronic circuit within.
